Home Again Home Again, Jiggity Jig

A numerical look at the past two weeks...

68 - number of new emails waiting for me when I got home

64 - number of new emails that were spam

5 - number of days we spent in the Northwoods

3 - bottles of wine (the 1.5 liter kind) we drank (what? they were leftover from the reception. like I'm going to waste good wine?)

2 - number of days we didn't leave the cabin (*wink!*)

1.5 - bottles of Champagne we drank (the .5 is due to a little mini-bottle I got at my bachelorette party)

1 - new husband (wooohoooo!)

So, I'm married now. You can't see it, but I'm dancing around my apartment with glee. Glee!

And it feels great to be back home and to have nothing to do with flowers, caterers, dress fittings, bakers, communications breakdowns, guests saying "2" on the response card and bringing "4" (those bastards!), or anything else related to a wedding. I can put my brain back on (it fell off about a month ago) and do normal things. I may even knit.

But today I'm going to post a few pictures about the wedding (because even though I'm glad it's over, I had a really fun time on the day). They're from my camera, and I think I gave it to my sister-in-law (Hi Wanda! You're my big sister now! I'm so excited!) and I forgot to turn on the flash so some of the pictures came out a wee bit blurry. Just look at them from afar.

Getting dressed in my Grandma's bedroom (she lives across the lake from the lodge where we had the wedding & recpetion). My friend Christine is zipping up the top. I've known Christine since kindergarten, which just amazes me, and she is the best get-it-done kind of person ever.

Nick and I standing at the ... well, it's a fireplace, not an altar. We had a pretty much non-traditional approach to the whole thing. I cried a few times during the ceremony (we asked our parents to write some sort of blessing--very emotional--and both of us wrote something about our relationship--hugely emotional) and lost it twice while trying to repeat my vows.

Our first dance, to The Sundays' version of "Wild Horses." If you squint, you can see the shell-shock wearing off.

We found this field full of sunflowers on the way to my parents' house from the hotel on the day after the wedding. Seriously, FULL of sunflowers. Do you see the trees way in the background? That is where the sunflowers end. Beautiful. It made us all giddy and stuff. (sorry for the squinty eyes and bad lighting... it was about 12noon when we took this picture.)

Thank you to Heather for guest blogging, to Anna for showing up at the wedding when she wasn't sure she could, and to Sandi for being simultaneously insanely fun and very calm at the wedding (as well as for a very popular shower gift!). You ladies kick ass.

Thanks to everyone who commented for your lovely good wishes. I am getting back into the swing of things, as they say, and plan to get back to blog-reading and -commenting as soon as possible.

Oh, it's AWESOME to have you back. It sounds as if you had a grand, lovely time, especially for those couple of days when all you saw was the cabin walls. *wink wink nudge nudge* Hee. It all looks lovely and wonderful. I'm glad you and your new hubby had a lovely time. May the times ahead prove ever more lovely and rewarding.

Another number to add to the list -
931 photos taken by the "official" photographer(s), not including the photos from the table cameras or the rehearsal shots.

The entire day was lots of fun!

Kathy, you and Nick make a wonderful looking couple. I may be biased!
